SlutWalk Chicago Flash Dance Mob: a Photodiary

It was wonderful, so inspiring and so many pictures! Our FlashDance mob gathered somewhere around 200 people. We all did the electric slide with professionalism and joy. Women, men and trans/genderqueer people of all shapes, colors, sizes, genders and sexual orientations joined in support of consent.

We're getting ready for SlutWalk Chicago. Have you RSVPed yet? Check out our FlashMob Dance during SlutWalk Chicago on September 29th at 11AM. Dance starts promptly at 11.30AM-11.35AM. We'll dance to Salt n' Pepa's, "Let's Talk About Sex." There will be around 1,000 ladies there marching. We couldn't think of anything more fun and amazing to do with our Saturday morning. And... pretty much our whole week prior.

Chicago, IL, 9/26/12 – Seven years ago, the Founder of GetLusty for Couples was raped near her university, DePaul University Chicago. Six weeks ago, she founded GetLusty for Couples to promote amazing, consensual sex between loving couples to end the shame and stigma of sex.

Love and relationship media resource GetLusty for Couples will work alongside SlutWalk Chicago to execute a flashmob dance with the mission of ending boring sex for couples. For 5 minutes, we'll do the electric slide in support of SlutWalk Chicago. An electric slide tutorial starts at 11:15AM and the dance itself starting promptly at 11:30AM on September 29, 2012 at the James R. Thompson Center (100 West Randolph Street, Chicago). Participation is open to the general public.

SlutWalk Chicago is an international annual event that aims to combat the myth of "the slut" and the culture of victim-blaming in sexual assault. “In the last year, this fight has spread to over 200 cities around the world, where independent organizers have organized locally-driven SlutWalk-inspired events. SlutWalk started, and is still going, because we and so many others around the world have had enough,” said SlutWalk Toronto originators Sonya Barnett and Heather Jarvis.

GetLusty For Couples, like SlutWalk, aims to promote consensual, amazing sex. We're completely behind the SlutWalk movement and we think you should be, too!

GetLusty aims to help SlutWalk Chicago in eliminating shame and embarrassment surrounding sexuality. The attendees will perform the Electric Slide dance in their undergarments (if they so choose) to Salt-N-Pepa's, "Let's Talk About Sex" and "Push It" to promote this discussion of sexuality in a public forum. After the conclusion of the dance, SlutWalk Chicago will proceed with their event from 12:00PM until 1:00PM.

A little history behind International Talk Like a Pirate Day from Wikipedia. International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD) is a parodic holiday created in 1995 by John Baur (Ol' Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap'n Slappy), who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate.

For example, an observer of this holiday would greet friends not with "Hello," but with "Ahoy, matey!" Honestly, we had no idea about this holiday until we looked at Google+ and it was trending. So surprise, here's some sexy pics for inspiration.

At GetLusty, we're easily excited. We admit it. But this time we've got our panties in a twist for a great reason. We're flying to Long Beach, CA for a sex activism conference called, "CatalystCon" and we think you'll like it, too.

What is this CatalystCon, you ask? 

We thought you'd ask. An overview from their website:

CatalystCon is a conference created to inspire exceptional conversations about sexuality. It is about reaching out and stimulating those who attend to create those important conversations in their own communities, changing how we as a society talk about and treat sexuality. It is about stimulating the activist that is within all of us and sparking transformation in the way our friends, neighbors, children and even politicians discuss one of the most important aspects of humanity.

This is a conference meant to energize, enlighten and exhilarate. It is a conference where everyone is welcome, everyone is respected, and everyone is encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences. With the most current attacks on women’s rights such as birth control, mandatory transvagainal ultrasounds as well as sex education being pulled from our schools, it is more important than ever to come together and have these important conversations on all areas of sexuality.


What's our plan? 

This conference is about sexual revolution, and we're all about sexual revolution. It's going to take a lot to end boring sex, but we're on a mission!

We're going to be bring the event to you! What's more, we also want to interview sex educator greats like Megan Andelloux, Carol Queen and numerous others.

We'll be live tweeting from @GetLusty, posting pictures to our Facebook page, blogging about the event and featuring attendees. We'll also upload podcasts to our Soundcloud channel and video interviews, offering their insights and great recommendations for a move fulfilling love life.
